Support services for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) will be created in the Gagauzia region of Moldova, as part of a global programme financed by the Republic of Korea and implemented by the UNDP. Women from five Gagauzia communities, including Comrat town, will be able to access support from psychologists, social workers, and legal advisors. Also, they will benefit from help and advice to find work or start their own business.
Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection is to approve two working guidelines to improve the response of health and social assistance systems in cases of domestic violence. Domestic violence victims will thus benefit from improved services provided by health and social assistance professionals, who will respond more effectively to identifying, referring and solving the cases of violence.

From 2 to 11 July they will discover the secrets of renewable energy at ENERGEL summer school, which takes place this year in Slobozia-Dusca village, Criuleni district and reunites pupils who participated in the Republican Competition “Renewable Energy Sources”. The seventh edition of the initiative is organised by the Moldova Energy and Biomass Project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

On Monday, 16 July, Chisinau Municipal Directorate for Child Rights Protection (MDCRP ) and UNFPA, the UN Population Fund, signed a Memorandum of Collaboration to improve the situation of adolescents, in particular those most vulnerable from Chisinau. The Memorandum aims to actively promote the rights of adolescents to age-appropriate health information, education and services, both for girls and boys.
On July 17, 2018, UN Women Moldova (United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women) and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Moldova signed a cooperation agreement, aiming to achieve joint results in “Gender Equality in the security and defence sector” area of the Strategy for ensuring equality between women and men in the Republic of Moldova for 2017-2021.
- The International Co-ordinating Council of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme has added 24 new sites to the World Network of Biosphere Reserves during its meeting in Palembang (Indonesia) from 23 to 28 July. The MAB network now numbers 686 Biosphere Reserves.
