16 successful projects in using and promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency were awarded at Moldova Eco-Energetica Award Ceremony, on Friday. Being at its 6th Edition, the Moldova-Eco Energetica Gala was attended by over 400 guests, representatives of the Moldovan government authorities, ministers, ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, private sector, academia and civil society.
“The total cost of services provided by the state for each case of violence against women accounts for 64 288 lei, while the cost our society pays for one case of failure to provide a woman with the respective services is of 689 264 lei”, these data were presented at the launching event of the “Estimating the cost of domestic violence and violence against women in the Republic of Moldova” Report.
Moldova Social Innovation Lab - MiLab (a joint project of UNDP Moldova and E-Government Center) announced five finalists of the project “Imi Pasa Innovation Challenge".
Survivors of violence, the “positive champions” had a face-to-face discussion with members of the Government during the final event of the ‘16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence’ national Campaign. The event washosted by the Government of the Republic of Moldova. Organised by the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family jointly with UN Women Moldova (United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women), this event gathered representatives of the Government, development partners, civil society, and for the first time, survivors of violence who are currently helping other women to get out of the vicious circle of violence.
The United Nations in Moldova marked today with awards outstanding achievements in human rights in Moldova in 2016. Organized since 2004 each year on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, the UN Gala of Human Rights Awards highlights and awards the most valuable, innovative, effective and participatory initiatives and actions to protect and promote human rights in Moldova.
Winners of the drawing and painting contest “Talent does not take bribes. Integrity in images” were awarded on International Anticorruption Day, 9 December by the National Anticorruption Center (NAC). The competition is a part of the Social Campaign "I – on the pathway to education through integrity" and was conducted within the project "Strengthening the corruption prevention and analysis functions of the NAC", implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
On 12 December 2016, the Common Dialogue Platform of Women MPs and the representatives of Cahul District Council held the first `Free from Violence’Regional Forum. The event served as a platform for stakeholders involved in preventing and eliminating violence against women and girls, to communicate and exchange views. This is happening at a time when in the Republic of Moldova, 6 in 10 urban women and 7 in 10 rural women are victims of at least one form of violence during their lifetime, according to data from 2011.
The winning articles of a national competition for best journalistic investigations on corruption were awarded on 13 December, in the framework the National anti-corruption week. The competition was organized by UNDP Moldova within the project “Strengthening the corruption prevention and analysis functions of the National Anticorruption Centre (NAC)”, financed by the Ministry of External Affairs of Norway.
