MY ONLINE SPACE: Guide on Women and Girls’ Digital Safety
Digital violence is on the rise globally and in Moldova. Over half of women in Eastern Europe and Central Asia have experienced online abuse or harassment, while in Moldova 41% of respondents identified online sexual harassment as one of the most common forms. Young women aged 18–24 are particularly affected, with 58% experiencing a form of technology-facilitated gender-based violence at least once.As part of its efforts to raise awareness and reporting rate, UN Women Moldova has published a Digital Safety Guide for Women and Girls, a practical and accessible resource adapted to the Moldovan context. The guide explains the most widespread forms of digital violence and provides essential information on how women and girls can protect themselves online. Developed with Sweden’s support, the guide is available in Romanian, Russian, and English. ©2020 UN Women. All rights reserved. Published by UN Women. Authors: Nurcihan Temur, Pınar İlkiz.
