Press Release

The International Labour Organization organized coaching sessions for the unemployed on businesses start up opportunities and job creation.

03 January 2023

  • Seven unemployed registered with the National Employment Agency (NEA) benefited from coaching sessions for launching their own businesses and creation of jobs, due to the financial assistance provided by the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The beneficiaries previously attended an entrepreneurship training course, together with 26 other unemployed, and were helped to develop a business plan. Now, thanks to the coaching sessions, they will be able to successfully apply their business ideas, create more jobs and launch new services on the market, such as furniture production, trucking or cosmetology and massage services, etc.

Alina Maxian from the city of Floresti plans to open a cafe soon and states that the coaching sessions she attended were of great help to move forward with her business idea: "I express sincere thanks for the opportunity offered by the NEA and ILO and for guiding us, step by step, in the world of business. The training material was well thought out and structured and, afterwards it was very useful to finalize the drafting of my business and even for my personal development."

The coaching sessions were focused on presenting the most important practical aspects for starting a business. Among the topics discussed were marketing and promotion, financial management of the company, quality and human resources management, business planning and many other topics of interest associated with entrepreneurship. At the same time, the participants of the coaching sessions were informed about the existing opportunities for business financing, such as the subsidy program offered by the NEA with the financial support of the ILO. Thus, the unemployed planning to launch a business can obtain grants provided that new jobs will be generated in accordance with the provisions of art. 39 of Law no. 105/2018 regarding the promotion of employment and unemployment insurance. Meanwhile, the employer is obliged to maintain the created jobs for a period of at least 18 months.

Raisa Dogaru, director of the NEA, mentioned that the training programs for the unemployed, including such coaching sessions, basically, contribute to the creation of decent jobs: "The entrepreneurship training and coaching of the unemployed and the creation of conditions for their self-employment is an active employment measure, which has proven to be quite effective for job creation, especially in rural areas’’.

The coaching sessions are part of financial and methodological support of the ILO aiming to support the implementation of active labour market measures. Based on this assistance, in 2022, 7 unemployed benefited from subsidies for starting businesses and created 18 jobs.

The unemployed  registered with NEA territorial employment subdivisions intending to launch or develop a business, can present their business plans to benefit from a one-time grant. You can find more information on this issue on the portal www.angajat.md.
