A new project for the prevention of cervical cancer among women and girls in the Republic of Moldova has been launched recently at the Institute for Mother and Child from Chisinau. The project aims to fight cervical cancer in the period of 2017-2020 years.

Today, the State Hydrometeorological Service of the Republic of Moldova (SHM) launches an optimized version of www.meteo.md, which will provide more accurate weather forecasts, quality and in accordance with the EUMETNET standards - the association that includes 31 weather forecasts services in Europe.
Security and defense students, professors and specialists will be able to access “Gender Dimension in the Security and Defense Area” textbook – the first resource of this kind in Romanian, released on November 2 at the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun.”
The mid-term review of the Moldova 2020 National Development Strategy (NDS Moldova 2020), presented today, shows modest progress, with only half of the corresponding targets being reached. Based on the constraints and lessons learned from its implementation, it is necessary to formulate a vision for 2030, integrating the Sustainable Development Agenda and the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. The new strategic document must be people-centered, based on human rights and gender equality, strengthening human potential, with an emphasis on raising the level of education of the population and improving health indicators.
Over 50 lawyers from 12 countries, including the Republic of Moldova have participated at a regional conference in the area of asylum. They exchanged their experience in the domain of guaranteed legal assistance provided by the state. The event was organized within the regional project “Quality Initiative in the asylum system in Eastern Europe and South Caucasus”, implemented by UNHCR since November 2015.

- The first Tourist Information Center (TIC) was launched today in Chisinau. All those who would like to spend their holidays in any corner of the Republic of Moldova may arrange all details of their stay. The Center provides information about events, boarding facilities, tours and itineraries to all visitors. Moreover, using virtual reality technology, tourists will “walk through” several touristic attractions before deciding upon what to visit.
- For the first time, women from Gagauzia region who suffer from violence could benefit from shelter and assistance in a centre that will be functional by the end of 2019. The staff of the centre will provide psychological counselling, as well as social and legal support. Women will also be advised how to find a job or start a business. The initiative is part of a project implemented by the United Nations Development Programme, with funding from the Republic of Korea.
