Starting with today, unique cultural events will become normal in Molovata, a picturesque village on the bank of Nistru. The European Union funded the refurbishment of the cultural facility in the community, in the framework of Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by the UNDP. So, the beginning of a new era for the cultural life of the village started on Tuesday, 18 of July, with a creative flash-mob on the Molovata ferry and a concert of classical music.
The latest WHO report on the global tobacco epidemic published today finds that more countries have implemented tobacco control policies, ranging from graphic pack warnings and advertising bans to no smoking areas. About 4.7 billion people – 63% of the world’s population – are covered by at least one comprehensive tobacco control measure, which has quadrupled since 2007 when only 1 billion people and 15% of the world’s population were covered. Strategies to implement such policies have saved millions of people from early death.
The Program for enhancing the political and civic participation of women with disabilities in Moldova "We have abilities, we want possibilities!" was launched, for the first time, in Chisinau. 40 women with disabilities from different regions of the Republic of Moldova, including from ATU of Gagauzia and left bank of Nistru river took part in the first session of the program.
La, La Play tour of the Moldova National Youth Orchestra reached Tighina fortress. For the first time, classical music, played by artists from both banks of the Nistru River, was performed in the famous fortress built in the XV century, nowadays - a popular touristic attraction. The event was possible thanks to the European Union’s support, as part of the “Support to Confidence Building Measures” Programme, implemented by the UNDP.
Another 15 localities from 15 districts of the country will learn to cooperate with people who left abroad, during the second phase of the Migration and Local Development Project (MiDL), implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in Moldova, with the support of the Swiss Development and Cooperation.
16 entrepreneurs from ATU Gagauzia and Taraclia District received grants from the European Union for a value of up to 17,900 Euro each. The support will enable launching of new businesses and developing small and medium enterprises, resulting in creation of over 90 new jobs.
New World Health Organization data from 28 countries - representing approximately 70% of the global hepatitis burden - indicate that efforts to eliminate hepatitis are gaining momentum. Published to coincide with World Hepatitis Day, the data reveal that nearly all 28 countries have established high-level national hepatitis elimination committees (with plans and targets in place) and more than half have allocated dedicated funding for hepatitis responses.
Sixty-five girls aged 16 to 20 from 13 regions of Moldova learned web development, robotics, and 3D printing at the third edition of GirlsGoIT summer camp that took place July 21-30, 2017, in Chisinau, Moldova. The participants have also visited several technology companies, such as DAS Solutions, Moldcell, Matrix and Tekwill. Additionally, DAS Solutions offered internships for two summer camp participants.
