- Epi situation update in education system
According to the latest updated data from the Ministry of Education, as of October 19, the number of students tested positive with COVID-19 is 276 and 6091 students were placed in self-isolation. 372 teachers have been positively confirmed with the new Coronavirus and 351 are in isolation. Of the non-teaching and auxiliary staff, 69 people were infected with the new virus, and another 64 are in self-isolation. The data also show that out of the 1240 general public and private educational institutions, 11 institutions operate remotely due to quarantine as in the case of 294 classes.
- UNFPA presentation of two impact studies on youth
UNFPA completed two surveys on the impact of COVID-19 on the (1) youth psycho-emotional wellbeing and (2) youth participation. The surveys were conducted in partnership with the Partnership for Development Center (CPD) and RC office. The findings will be presented live on the UNFPA FB page - https://www.facebook.com/unfpaMoldova/, as follows: 21 October 2020, 12.00 pm – The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on psycho-emotional wellbeing of young people; 27 October 2020, 14.00 pm – The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on youth participation and civic engagement.
- The socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on SMEs
The socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on SMEs in the Republic of Moldova and support measures for this sector were addressed in a video conference organized by UNDP Moldova in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, with the participation of over 90 by representatives of government institutions, advisory platforms, business and banking associations, but also of development partners.
