UN General Award for an Outstanding Human Rights Achievement 2024

UN General Award for an Outstanding Human Rights Achievement 2024 was won by the Association "Uniunea pentru Echitate si Sanatate" from Balti city. 

The association “Uniunea pentru Echitate și Sănătate” is a key advocate for human rights in Moldova, addressing the needs of vulnerable populations since 2018. Through a network of 29 community paralegals, they provide essential legal and healthcare support to marginalized groups, including the LGBTIQ+ community, sex workers, and individuals living with HIV. Their efforts combat stigma and systemic discrimination, enhancing access to justice, healthcare, and equality.

The association leverages partnerships with local and international organizations, like the Soros Foundation and UNAIDS, to drive public awareness, advocacy, and systemic reforms. Their programs, including services for psychoactive substance users and support for refugees, promote inclusion and equitable access to healthcare, education, and social services.
