- With the support of the European Union, the mentors will help professionals in the field of education to innovate and improve their teaching skills, implement digital technologies and develop new professional and personal competences
Starting with the 2024-2025 academic year, around 1000 mentors will operate in all general education institutions across the country. They will help teachers, including young professionals, to innovate and improve their teaching skills, implement digital technologies and develop new professional and personal skills.
To this end, the National Institute for Education and Leadership (INEL), with the support of the Ministry of Education and Research, UNICEF and UNDP, has started the program to train 80 national mentors. They will subsequently train another 920 institutional mentors.
The mentors will carry out various mentoring activities in the educational institutions in which they work for the pedagogical internships of pupils and students in pedagogical colleges and universities, including promoting the teaching profession among young people. They will also facilitate classroom/school implementation of best educational practices, support the continuous professional and personal development of all teachers and promote excellence in teaching. At the same time, the mentors will provide counseling and methodological support to young professionals in the process of professional insertion in order to prevent drop-out.
The 80 national mentors will be guided by Doina-Cecilia Fleanta and Ada Bena, international mentoring consultants and mentor trainers.
The Mentor Training Program is part of the project "Promoting quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all", funded by the European Union and implemented by UNICEF and UNDP, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research.
