The International Labour Organization provided information to individuals interested in legalizing their work as individual child caregivers
18 October 2023
- Thirty participants were informed about the necessary steps to legalize their activity as child caregivers.
The International Labour Organization (ILO), in partnership with the Center for Development Partnerships (CPD), conducted a training workshop on October 16th and 17th. Due to high interest, the workshop will continue online for individuals who were unable to attend the in-person information sessions.
The training focused on the current regulatory framework concerning the registration, organization, and provision of individualized childcare services.
Nelea Rusu, the national project coordinator at the International Labour Organization, emphasized that the information sessions will contribute to expanding childcare services for children aged 0-3 years. "ILO advocates for the recognition, reduction, and redistribution of unpaid care work, fair compensation and remuneration in the care sector, as well as ensuring representation of care workers, social dialogue, and collective bargaining."
After completing the training sessions, participants intending to become providers of individualized childcare services for children up to 3 years old will have access to a range of consultancy services. These services will be available through email, phone, and in-person support as required, and will be accessible from October to December 2023.
Maria Gradinari, a mother of 5 children, participated in the workshop to learn about the legal provisions for child care. She said, "When you care for a child, you are surrounded by love. That's why I expressed interest in this support course to understand what the law says, to work legally, as I had the experience of taking care of other children but without an employment contract."
Olesea Cebotari, the founder of the "Tainele Copilăriei" Educational Center, intends to provide "individualized child care services because she has the necessary experience and intends to take a qualification course. ”For me, it's important to know my rights and obligations in this activity."
The program to formalize the work of child caregivers is being implemented from March to December 2023 by the International Labour Organization in partnership with the Center for Development Partnerships under the project "Childcare System in Moldova: A Systemic Approach to Improve Offer and Promotion of Formalization." This is part of a global partnership between ILO and SIDA and aims to improve the childcare system in the Republic of Moldova.
