We need young people’s endless energy, outstanding ideas, and meaningful contributions.

Unfortunately, it’s not enough just to listen to young people, we need to “hear” them and integrate them into our decision-making processes at the local, national and international levels.

This year’s theme — “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World” — reminds us that young people play an important role in fighting climate changes and that we need to ensure they are empowered and equipped with necessary skills and knowledge to transform our world in a cleaner and greener place to live in.

At UN Moldova we fully embrace young people’s diversity in all its forms. We work, consult, and involve them in our daily activities and designing of our core documents. It has been three years now since we have a UN Youth and Adolescent Advisory Panel in place working together to support the sustainable development of the country taking into consideration youth priorities and perspectives.

Young people play a significant role in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals by advocating for their achievement and by holding the government and other actors accountable. All they need is our support and commitment.

Today and every day, let’s stand with young people and work as one to achieve a more equitable, just and sustainable world for all.
