4,000 inhabitants from Scoreni benefit from street lighting

Thus, 3 km of cable and 84 LED light fittings of 56W have been installed, with a 5 time less consumption as compared to the traditional bulbs, with a life expectancy of about 15 years and a warranty of 5 years. The total investment amounts to 609,591 MDL, where 77,000 MDL are natives’ and community’s contributions, 132,591 MDL were allocated from the Scoreni local budget and 400,000 MDL were provided by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Moldova, in the framework of the Migration and Local Development Project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in Moldova.

“Scoreni villagers from all over the world demonstrated a model of an unprecedented mobilization efforts for this project”, says Victor Miron, President of the Hometown Association from Scoreni.

The project beneficiaries are 4,000 villagers, of which around 1,700 are women. The main street, which has been illuminated, hosts key public institutions: high school, kindergarten, town hall, health facility, pharmacy, post office, police office and public transport station.

“We will soon have street lighting and continue to continuously invest in improving local infrastructure. It is a successful project, implemented together with the entire community. I encourage all Scoreni villagers to continue engaging in such projects, implemented in their native village”, notes Svetlana Tabacari, Mayor of Scoreni.

Scoreni village is one of the 23 localities benefiting from the Migration and Local Development Project.

• On June 30: with the event “Ialoveni high”, to launch several services (changing of street lamps, placing of high banners, high works at public institutions, cleaning and disinfection of trees etc.) offered to the city with the auto truck for high interventions, procured with migrants’ support;
• On July 5: with the event “Good water for home village” with the launch of a waterpipe segment in the Slobozia Mare village;
• Each week of August shall be dedicated to launching such projects in different areas of the country.
