  • UNICEF and WHO with USAID support help Ministry of Health to strengthen monitoring and reporting process of COVID-19 vaccination.

1 205 computers and accessories, purchased by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in the Republic of Moldova with the generous support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), were donated to the Ministry of Health. The equipment donation event, worth USD 1,000,000, took place today, January 17.

The computing systems will be received by the primary health care institutions in the country - 35 health centers, the Family Doctors Center Balti, the University Clinic of Primary Health Care, the State Polyclinic, the territorial medical associations from Chisinau, but also the territorial subdivisions of the National Agency for Public Health.

The provided equipment will facilitate the use of health information systems, including the monitoring of the COVID-19 vaccination process and the anti-flu immunization.

It will also streamline the activities of medical workers and specialists from public health centers. In addition, healthcare workers, who report vaccination data, will be trained with WHO and UNICEF support, including on developing new functionalities within the automated vaccination record information system. Thus, the capacities of medical institutions to manage information on immunization against COVID-19 and other infections will be strengthened.
