UN Moldova and Cronograf bring to Chisinau inspirational documentaries of Brussels Millenium Film Festival

"We are delighted to partner with the Millennium and Cronograf Documentary Film Festivals and to host in Chisinau, the beautiful capital of Moldova, a premiere screening of six inspirational documentary films. These movies showcase effective and innovative actions and solutions to create positive change and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. They build awareness of the Global Goals and the 2030 Agenda and call for mobilizing and scaling up action on the ground.  We hope the program will resonate with the aspirations of the citizens of Moldova for transforming the country into a modern and prosperous state," said Dafina Gercheva, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova.

The director of the Movie House OWH STUDIO and President of the International Documentary Film Festival CRONOGRAF, Virgiliu Margineanu says that this event "is the result of a beautiful collaboration and experience exchange between Millenium and CRONOGRAF, festivals with personality that bring to the big screen and to the public discussion the best documentaries that address topics of maximum interest and timeliness, both on a global scale and on the scale of smaller communities. "

Thus, for three days, the audience will be invited to watch six feature documentaries on the current issues of humanity: migration, refugees, inmates, conflicts, ecology, unprecedented historical and personal journeys.

After the poetic documentary Taste of Cement, directed by Ziad Kalthoum, about what it means to live in exile in a war-torn world, also on 24 October will be presented the winner of the Grand Prize of the 2018 edition of the Millenium FF, Mila Turajlić’s documentary The Other Side of Everything, a personal look at the recent history of Yugoslavia through several generations of the director's family.

On October 25, the documentary by Tonislav Hristov - The Good Postman, an ironic and subtle look on the theme of transition and the film by director Pau Ortiz - The Other Side of the Wall, a documentary about migration that divides families and matures children too early.

On the third day, the audience is awaiting the screenings of Thank You for the Rain, directed by Julia Dahr, an emotional documentary about global warming and A Woman Captured, directed by Bernadett Tuza-Ritter, a disturbing documentary about modern slavery.
